About Anna

My name is Anna Egeressy and I am a Clinical Psychologist with over 20 years of broad clinical experience. My career has spanned public and private sectors, across inpatient and community settings. I have worked as a therapist in clinical practice and supervisor in university and private settings. I have a special interest in the relationship between our physical and mental health behaviours and how these can be shaped through family and other life experiences.  I also enjoy working with boards and committees to promote best practice in psychological and physical health.

The stability and quality of our mental and physical health are inextricably linked across our lifespan. A multitude of biological, social, and psychological factors can influence the development and maintenance of this relationship.

Most importantly, I value a collaborative therapeutic alliance to assist people in responding to the challenges and changes in their lives.

What You Can Expect When Working With Me

Our emotional responses to these areas all impact our psychological resilience and can profoundly affect our physical health through how we manage our relationship to food, sleep, capacity for exercise, and use of alcohol or other drugs.

I work closely with other health professionals to ensure you are receiving expert opinions and care for your whole health.

Work and relationships are a major part of our psychosocial lives. The nature of work, our workplaces, and the culture can have major impacts on mental and physical health. Work performance and health is a key focus in my practice.

As a clinical psychologist, I can support you in addressing the stressors and changes you may be struggling with. I have worked with people across a range of levels and disciplines including executives, community services, defence and aviation.

I combine evidence-based treatments personalised to individual patient needs to assist people in understanding why they feel the way they do, reduce and manage symptoms, and set goals. I also apply practice-based evidence which means I listen to the feedback of each client to understand whether what we are working on and how we are working is progressing you towards the objectives or reasons you came for therapy.

I use Psychodynamic Therapy with pragmatic skills from; Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Mindfulness, and Positive Psychology. In practice this means that I draw on a range of potential interventions or strategies to help you understand your issues, and work towards your goals whilst noticing recurring themes or patterns that can be barriers to lasting change.

I will talk to you about my suggested approach to your situation so we are clear on why we are working together in a certain way. Therapy offers the opportunity to develop your resources and strategies for lasting change.
